Does going solar save you money?

I did some research about going solar and need some advice on your current lease and solar program! Everyone is looking to go green and cut the ties with paying the big expense of electricity but what is the price we will be paying? Most companies advertise no money and a lower cost than your current electrical provider! Is this true or do these companies lure you in with a low price and make you sign a 20 year lease!

Here are some questions you might want to ask the company that provides you with the free lease for solar

# 1 how many years will I be signing the lease for?

#2   is my lease a locked in rate for power or price per kW?

#3 is there a maximum amount of KW I can use per month? Is there an additional fee for going over my plan?

#4 what if I want to sell my house can I transfer the lease? Will the new owner have to sign a new lease?

#5 what if the home buyer does not want the panels or the lease?

#6 what is the power increases per year?

Questions to ask the solar contractor cost vs. saving

Here are some of the questions I have for people that are looking into going solar for free with the lease plan! I want to go solar but looking at some of the numbers and the payback time would be about 10 years. I know that my current provider for power is San Diego Gas & Electric and they are nice to speak with and help promote solar but we have to understand that most utility companies are governed by the utility trade commission! When the companies want to raise their prices the have to get the approval from the utility trade commission! Now when you lease power from the local company that had you sign the lease who governs their prices? I am sure you might be surprised if you read the small print on that lease you are going to sign!

Lease vs. Purchase of a solar system

Please read the lease contract for a few days to make sure you don’t get stuck with a 20-year mistake! Call your current electrical company or provider to see or talk with them about the rate increases or future predictions of cost of power KW going up!

When should I buy a Solar System?

This is a great question to ask because the way technology is moving your solar PV system will be outdated fast and the prices for the solar systems are dropping each day. I like to say its like buying a cellular phone or a computer today its the best on the market and tomorrow its slower and older.  I guess the best time is now and with the new systems you can add panels and inverters when ever you have the money or just monthly. The new systems can be added to just like train cars to a train.

Please let me know if this helps or maybe you are in a bad lease? I want to hear it all so please feel free to reply!
